Please describe your project in more detail.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro's (BGCSL) California Outdoors! Education Program will serve 200 youth in the Spring 2016 through August 2016. For these low-income youth who are primarily living in poor urban areas, this will be their first experience participating in a three-day outdoor educational experience including camping overnight. Funding would be used for bus transportation and food.

The California Outdoors! Education Program builds upon an earlier partnership with both the East Bay Regional Park’s Naturalist Outdoor Education Program begun several years ago which is a day time experience and Outdoor Youth Connection, the first overnight experience with California State Parks and Recreation for approximately 50 youth.  The California Outdoors! Education Program provides an overnight experience in parks not reachable by our low income youth. BGCSL wants to rotate this program among its 1,200 youth served daily beginning with a small group.
